The Center for Economic and Policy Research is currently looking for a full-time Domestic Program Communications Associate, based in its Washington, DC office.
Job Description: CEPR has an opening for a Domestic Policy Communications Associate starting in September 2017. The Associate will coordinate communications strategy with the domestic-side Co-Director and the Director of Domestic Policy to ensure that CEPR’s domestic policy work is covered in major national, state, and local media outlets. This job involves regular communication with national media, including writing press releases, and correspondence with journalists and editors. It also involves regular contact with radio and TV producers in order to promote the inclusion of ideas developed by CEPR staff. The position will also help sustain and grow CEPR’s presence on a variety of social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter and post some content to CEPR’s website. This full-time position reports to CEPR’s domestic-side Co-Director.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant field and/or one to two years of relevant experience.
The Domestic Policy Communications Associate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Excellent writing and communications skills are also essential. It is absolutely necessary that the candidate has the ability to understand arguments and discussions based on quantitative information.
While experience with media work and/or social media is highly recommended, it is not strictly necessary for otherwise exceptional candidates who can demonstrate competency in these areas. Applicants should have a general understanding of, or interest in, economics and domestic policy, and a commitment to economic justice. Familiarity with policy debates regarding economic stimulus, health care, Social Security, federal budget, wages, work/life balance, trade policy, and other domestic topics is a plus.
