Employee Free Choice Act Debate
On Wednesday, April 8, from 11am to 1pm, the Alaska AFL-CIO and Alaska Chamber of Commerce held a forum to debate the Employee Free Choice Act at the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage, AK.
Carl Shepro, a Professor of Political Science at the University of Alaska at Anchorage, moderated the event. Vince Beltrami, President of the Alaska AFL-CIO, and CEPR Senior Economist John Schmitt argued in favor of the Employee Free Choice Act. Marc Freedman, a representative of the US Chamber of Commerce, and Rebecca Logan, President of the Alaska Association of Builders and Contractors, spoke against the Employee Free Choice Act.

Martin Luther King Jr. who gave his life fighting for the rights of the Memphis sanitation workers and for a poor people’s movement for economic rights, “A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth…and say: `This is not just.'"
