Mark Weisbrot will discuss the 21st century rebound for the majority of low- and middle-income countries after an unusual long-term decline in the rate of economic growth and progress on various social indicators in the last two decades of the 20th century. He will look at the role of China in the 21st-century recovery, and the possible role of policy changes that took place in many low- and middle-income countries, as well as other policy and institutional influences.
