Podcasts & Audio Downloads
of the CEPR Economics Seminar Series

If you cannot attend the CEPR Economic Seminars in person, we invite you to listen to the courses via “Podcast” (and more traditional audio downloads).

Podcasting enables you to get each week’s seminar automatically downloaded to your computer or portable audio player. This is particularly useful if you have an MP3 player or a slow Internet connection, because the downloading process can be done in the background. Once you set this up, you will have audio files of the seminars available on your computer or player.

If you would like to download the separate audio files manually, here are the direct links.  (File sizes range from 6 to 14 MB):

Seminar 1, Lecture Seminar 2, Lecture Seminar 3, Lecture Seminar 4, Lecture Seminar 5, Lecture
Seminar 1, Q & A Seminar 2, Q & A Seminar 3, Q & A Seminar 4, Q & A Seminar 5, Q & A

Seminar 6, Lecture Seminar 7, Lecture Seminar 8, Lecture Seminar 9, Lecture Seminar 10, Lecture
Seminar 6, Q & A Seminar 7, Q & A Seminar 8, Q & A Seminar 9, Q & A Seminar 10, Q & A

What a Podcast is:

Effectively, a podcast is an “RSS Feed” (Really Simple Syndication) that also contains information about an MP3 file that can be downloaded.  The CEPR Seminars will be posted as both a podcast and direct download. To receive our podcast, you will need to install a program on your computer and tell it about a podcast feed you want to subscribe to. When a new show is uploaded to the website, the podcasting software will automatically download the MP3 file in the background.

Step 1: Get A Podcasting Program

To get started, you will need to install a podcasting program. There are a number of programs freely available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Step 2: Subscribe to the CEPR Seminar Podcast Feed

Once you have downloaded and installed a podcast program, you will need to add the CEPR Seminar podcast feed. The address for our podcast feed is:

http://www.cepr.net/seminars/podcast_seminar_rss.xml

Notes: You can right-click on the link above and select "copy link location" in Firefox  (“copy shortcut” in Internet Explorer). The link goes directly to the XML file. If you click on it directly in your web browser, you will see the raw XML code. Don't be frightened!   (XML is similar to HTML, for those who wonder what it is.)  Please follow the instructions on this page to "subscribe" to the feed in your software of choice.

Step 3: Start downloading

Once you have subscribed to the CEPR Seminar podcast feed, you just need to tell the podcast software to start downloading. From then on, the program will occasionally check for new seminars, and when they are available, it will download them.

If you have a portable MP3 player and you want it to automatically download podcasts from your computer, you may need to tell your podcast program which one you use, or configure it to save the files in the correct directory.  Check the documentation or web site for your podcast software details.  Alternatively, you can manually download the podcasts from your computer to your player.
