The Aspen Institute Initiative on Financial Security hosted a discussion on deficit-reduction measures. The conversation centered on dominant contributors to the U.S. fiscal deficit, identify practical solutions for restructuring government expenditures and revenues, and highlight political fault lines that threaten meaningful reform. The event was moderated by David Leonhardt, New York Times columnist. Participants included Dean Baker, Co-Director, Center for Economic and Policy Research; Grover Norquist, President, Americans for Tax Reform; Andrew Stern, Senior Research Fellow, Georgetown Publilc Policy Institute; and Eugene Steuerle, Institute Fellow & Richard B.
