Washington, DC — The Center for Economic and Policy Research is launching a new round-up of news and analysis on Ecuador. The fortnightly round-up is intended to provide crucial context and updates for readers to understand political and other developments in Ecuador following years of increasing violence and crime, political repression, corruption, and economic challenges.

The first edition provides important context related to the political crisis that led to the dissolution of the National Assembly and the calling of new elections midway through President Lasso’s term; background on the various candidates running for president and vice president; and recent attempts to keep candidates from former president Rafael Correa’s political movement off the ballot.
