As part of our study of paid family leave, the California Field Poll surveyed registered voters in California in September 2011 to assess their awareness of the state’s Paid Family Leave (PFL) program. Since our survey in 2003, awareness of the program has grown substantially. Although fewer than half of voters (44.9 percent) were aware of PFL in 2011, this is a dramatic increase over 2003, when the figure was 29.7 percent. This issue brief looks at the changes in awareness among different groups between the 2003 and 2011 surveys.
