November 2004, Dean Baker

This study’s projections show that all states would see substantial savings under the Free Market Drug Act, a proposal to directly fund drug research and allow all new drugs to be sold as generics.  The biggest winners would be New York, California and Texas. Over the years 2009 to 2013, these states would save $9.3 billion, $7.1 billion, and $3.7 billion, respectively.
