Antonio is a senior research fellow at CEPR. He graduated cum laude in political science at the University of Naples. After joining the trade union movement, he was elected national secretary of FIOM (the metalworkers’ union) and national secretary of the Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL). Antonio has also served as a member of the governing body of the International Labor Organization. His articles appear regularly in the Italian press, and his papers, in European journals such as Les Temps Modernes, Revista de Derecho Social, and Sozialistische Hefte.

Antonio was once an appointed advisor to Italy’s minister of labor under the governments of Massimo D’Alema and Giuliano Amato. He is a former adjunct professor of labor law at the University of Naples. Currently, he is editor of Insight.
