Summit on Economic Justice for Women

Research Assistant Rebecca Ray traveled to Atlanta, Georgia where she spoke on two panel discussions at the 2008 Summit on Economic Justice for Women, organized by the NOW Foundation, the Institute for Women's Policy Research, and the National Council of Negro Women. The first workshop, "Between a Rock and a Workplace: Workers Without Paid Sick Days or Family Leave," examined how current labor laws and regulations affect working women given that United States is the only industrial nation that hasn’t adopted a paid family leave policy. The second workshop, "How Secure Will You Be? Strategies for Women’s Old-Age Security and Mid-Life Momentum," focused on issues that affect older women's economic well-being after they retire.
