Washington, D.C.- Dean Baker released the following statement today regarding a recent article about Elizabeth Warren of the Congressional Oversight Committee for TARP (COP):

“I was recently quoted in the New York Times as saying that Elizabeth Warren was something of a ‘loose cannon.’ This was an extremely poor choice of words on my part. I have tremendous respect for the work that Professor Warren has done in her academic career and even more so in her tenure as head of the COP. The point was that she is not someone who defers to power and therefore may not make life easy for politicians satisfied with the status quo. This was an unfortunate choice of words on my part. Ms. Warren certainly is overwhelmingly qualified for any position for which she may be considered.”
