CEPR's Alexander Main took part in a panel on Haiti as part of the Congressional Black Caucus' Annual Legislative Conference. The panel focused on a variety of issues facing Haiti as it continues to recover from the effects of the 2010 earthquake and the ongoing cholera epidemic.
The panel also discussed political developments in the country, including controversies surrounding the possible reestablishment of the Haitian Army and the future role of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). Finally, the panel discussed ways the United States and the international community can work with the Haitian government to overcome the barriers preventing many Haitians from accessing affordable and sustainable housing.
