The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) is currently looking for an Economist, Ph.D. preferred, to work on international issues. This is a one-year position (the specific start and end dates are somewhat flexible). This is a full-time, Washington, DC-based position.
Job Description: The economist would perform policy-focused economic analysis and write issue briefs, research papers, and other publications on international economic issues, including some related to Latin America. The responsibilities will vary based on the applicant’s interests and experience, as well as the particular issues that CEPR is working on at the time.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess most or all of the following qualifications. However, CEPR will consider strong candidates whose experience and capabilities are roughly equivalent.

Advanced degree in economics or related field, preferably at the Ph.D. level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Superior writing and analytical skills.

Ability to initiate and conduct research projects independently.

In-depth knowledge of contemporary international economic issues, including trade, globalization, and policies promoted by international financial institutions.

Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a plus.

Compatibility with CEPR’s perspective and commitment to social and economic justice.
Compensation: CEPR offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. Minimum starting salary for the position is $70,246. This position will be represented by the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU).
