Jaron Bourke is a Senior Advisor for the Center for Economic and Policy Research. Over a 25-year career working for Congress, Jaron managed House Oversight Committee staff for Elijah Cummings, led an investigative subcommittee team for Henry Waxman and Dennis Kucinich, directed the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and served as a Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and Legislative Assistant. His investigations and oversight led to federal prosecutions, forced resignations of incompetent political appointees, reversed the largest privatization in DOD history, restored benefits for combat-injured veterans, and steered billions of dollars in federal funds to midwestern states hit hard by foreclosures and neighborhood blight. His legislative accomplishments include helping to end American military involvement in the Balkans by defeating the administration’s attempt at Congressional authorization and helping to protect American workers by defeating Fast Track trade negotiating authority. He also organized bipartisan Congressional participation in significant and successful litigation against the Trump administration. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard.
