A Discussion About Haiti: “Aid State: Elite Panic, Disaster Capitalism, and the Battle to Control Haiti”
On January 8th, 2025, the Haiti Response Coalition presented a discussion of the book “Aid State: Elite Panic, Disaster Capitalism, and the Battle to Control Haiti.”
The author, Jake Johnston, Director of International Research at CEPR, joined Velina Charlier, a feminist, human rights activist, and member of Nou Pap Dòmi. Together, they discussed the book’s major themes and their relevance to the state of Haiti today.
