Labor Force Participation for Japanese Women Outpaces US Women

Labor force participation for women in Japan has increased, outpacing women’s labor force participation in the US. And while data show most Japanese women are working full-time, a greater share of their positions are lower-paid and poor quality compared to Japanese men. Women in Japan still earn substantially less than their male counterparts.
